First Arriving on Greenbelt Building Fire
Date: 9/28/08

At 0731 hours, Truck 14 was alerted as the first-due truck to the 7000 block of Greenbelt Road for the building fire. Truck 14 arrived first and reported a one-story, vacant nursing home facility with heavy fire showing, and requested the second alarm.

The initial attack was defensive, but interior operations soon followed which allowed part of the building to be saved. The truck completed the primary search with negative results, ventilated, and overhauled the structure. Truck 14 was ready for service at 1037 hours.

First-Due Wreck with One Trapped
Date: 9/18/08

At 2333 hours, Rescue Squad 14 was alerted to Kenilworth Avenue and Greenbelt Road for the vehicle accident, in our first-due. The squad arrived to find a car into a pole with one trapped.

The volunteers from the squad, went to work by stabilizing the vehicle and removing the glass. Next, all doors and the roof were removed to provide patient access. The patient was quickly extricated and transported to a local trauma center. Rescue Squad 14 was ready for service at 2353 hours.


Two Extrications and Commercial Building Fire
Date: 9/11/08

At 0535 hours, Rescue Squad 14 was alerted to Rhode Island Avenue and Cherokee Street for a car into a pole with one trapped. Units arrived to find the same and PEPCO had to be expedited since crews could not access the patient due to live power lines. Once PEPCO controlled the utilities, the squad crew extricated the patient who was transported to a local trauma center. Rescue Squad 14 was ready at 0700 hours.

At 0715 hours, Rescue Squad 14 was dispatched to Cherrywood Lane and Greenbelt Metro Drive, in our first-due, for the vehicle accident with one trapped. The squad crew found the same and extricated the patient. Rescue Squad 14 was ready for service at 0736 hours.

Finally, at 2317 hours, Rescue Squad 14 was alerted to Montgomery County for fire in the IHOP in the 7200 block of New Hampshire Avenue. Units found smoke showing on arrival. Rescue Squad 14 arrived and was assigned RIT. The squad cleared the scene at 0040 hours.

Rescue Squad Extricates One From Overturned Car
Date: 9/3/08

At 1505 hours, Rescue Squad 14 was dispatched to the innerloop of I-495 at I-95 for the personal injury accident. Units arrived to find one overturned with one trapped. Rescue Squad 14 arrived and started stabilizing the overturned vehicle. Once stabilized, the driver’s side doors and B-post were removed to provide patient access. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center. Rescue Squad 14 was ready for service at 1529 hours.
