Volunteers Train on Vehicle Extrication
Date: 5/25/08

With Memorial Day Weekend not bringing many runs and an overturned vehicle sitting unused in the training section of our parking lot, 9 volunteers decided to drill using our Amkus chains. The goal of the drill was to create rear access to the car using a non-traditional method.

Using J-hooks and chain attached to the front and rear of the car, Amkus chains and spreaders were placed in the middle connecting everything, and a relief cut was made towards the rear of the car on the rocker panel. Starting with the spreaders in the open position, they were slowly closed. Looking at the pictures you can see how rear access to the car was gained as the trunk was inverted and folded back.
